About me...
As a doctoral student, Carolyn created a networking event at the American Society of Criminology (ASC) Annual Meeting where Black criminologists and practitioners in attendance could fellowship in a space designed with them in mind, Black@ASC. During Carolyn’s first experience at ASC, she longed for such a space. Since the first Black@ ASC event during the 2022 Annual Meeting in Atlanta, GA, Carolyn has envisioned a wider range of supports for underrepresented folks in criminology and criminal justice professions. During her last year of doctoral study, she created BlaCri to fill that gap.
As Chief Curator of BlaCri, Dr. Carolyn, creates events, facilitates connections, and amplifies ideas to support the work. She believes deeply in the power of community to facilitate and sustain change.
Dr. Carolyn is an applied researcher in the field of criminology, focusing her efforts on community-centered improvements to law enforcement agencies. She is a Research Scientist for a mid-size police department in northern California.
